Top 5 Movies to Rent on Valentine's Day

Are you unsure of what to do this Valentine's Day? Do you want to avoid the overpriced dinner and the crowds? Or the upcoming blizzard? Have no fear. In our honor of the upcoming holiday of love, otherwise known as Valentine's day, I thought I would share some of my most favorite romantic movies. Some have heavily influenced my preception of love and helped guide me to finding my own fairytale (insert big cheesy smile). It is the perfect mix to sit home and cuddle with your loved one!

5. Dirty Dancing I can still remember the first time watching this movie. I was a teenager and loved music and especially dancing. Patrick Swayze was the perfect mix of bad boy and hottness. He could fight the guy who disrespected you and at the same time he could complete a triple axel on the dance floor. I longed to find my Johnny. Someone who enjoyed to dance as much as I did and I never wanted to be that girl at a wedding whose husband just sat there because he didn't dance.

4. Star Wars Trilogy Episodes I-III (Blu-ray + DVD) Now, no judgements. This is not a typo. I actually do find The Revenge of the Sith to be one of the most romantic story of true love. Hear me out. Anakin has visions of his beloved Padme dying. He confides his reoccuring dream to the Count. The Count knows that Anakin has great powers and tells him that if he joins the dark side that he can save the love of his life. Anakin feels so strongly that Padme is going to die because he has similar visions of his mother dying which did come true. Anakin makes the ultimate sacrifice and becomes Lord Darth Vader. Sometimes in life we have to make sacrafices for those that we love. This is a perfect example of that.

3. (500) Days Of Summer This movie came out during a time that I was going through a rough break up. It was rough not in that I was devasted over the lost of the guy, but I was more devasted at the lost of the dream. I thought it would never happen for me. This movie is so cute in that it looks at how the guy is goo goo ga ga over the girl rather than the typical girl crazy for the guy view that we alwasy see. Although the love doesn't last, he never gives up hope.

2. The Wedding Singer The pairing of Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler is at its best in this classic romantic comedy. It takes place in the 80's when the music was at its best and the fashion in this movie is hilarious. It showcases how love sometimes develops through friendship first and that sometimes true love is right in front of you. All you have to do is open your eyes.

1.Twilight - I am not sure if you saw this one coming. The Twilight book series came into my life in early 2007. People had been talking about it for a bit at the time as the third installment was due to come out later that year. I had been in a dark place at the time. I was unhappy. My weight had ballooned and my love life was terrible, I was just so sad. Then came this book that changed it all. As I read the words about how Edward loved Bella I sobbed. It was so powerful to me. I knew, in that moment, that I needed to make changes in my life to allow myself the chance to find my own Edward. His love for her was breathtaking and so pure. I was completely smitten with the story and it gave me the strength to go out on my own even if that was terrifying. So glad I did.

  1. My husband told me Star Wars was one of the greatest love stories of all time - that's how he convinced me to watch it with him when we were dating. I still don't see it, even though I've watched every movie at least three dozen times ... but that's okay :) My favourite romantic movie is The Princess Bride!
