A season to give thanks...

Even though the holiday season has come and gone, the time to give thanks has not passed. Life at this moment could not be any better and I hope that it continues to cruise on this path for many many years...

This holiday I did all the cooking at my house as usual, but this year it was extra special. Everyone says that kids change your life and boy, do they, but no one tells you just how wonderful the holidays are...It was just that much more special having her wear her little paper turkey hat that I made while she napped. I also made our guest pilgrim hats which we all wore proudly and Little Miss Marisol thought it was a riot.

Our turkey was soaked in a wonderful citrus brine. I even used fresh herbs of Rosemary and Thyme. It was juicy and the outside was perfectly crisp. We also enjoyed some hot rolls with fresh home made basil and parmesan butter ( I will share the simple steps to creamy whipped butter later on). We also enjoyed the regular sides, like mash potatoes and such...

This year we wanted to start some family traditions so we had our guests make turkey paintings using their hands and writing what they are thankful for. We did it after dinner and it was a nice way to really celebrate the true meaning of the holiday. Every year we plan on making these and to reflect on those from years past. It will also be a cute way to watch how big Marisol's hands get over the years.

I hope you all had a wonderful day spend surrounded by good food, family and love...
